Why I Do What I Do

Another field visit involved traveling to far off points north through a typical white knuckle snow storm where I again asked myself, “Why am I doing this type of work?“ Add in a few more expletive colourful words. When I finally reached the remote worksite, I was introduced to a young female geologist. She had been suffering spine pain and strain for some time. As I spoke with her and her health and safety team as to what my assessment would entail, she looked at me with tear filled eyes and asked “can you really help me?” This is why I do what I do.
